Who We Are

AMiA Food Systems is a community-centered organization dedicated to increasing access to fresh, affordable food while building sustainable food systems that strengthen community health and resilience. Through the Farm Stand, The Mimic Composting System, and future Food Hub development, AMiA supports local growers, reduces food waste, and creates pathways to healthier, more equitable communities.

Founder & Executive Director

LaNeisha Hodo is the Founder and Executive Director of AMiA Food Systems. A Compton native and Earth Science graduate, she is dedicated to expanding food access, supporting local agriculture, and building sustainable food systems that strengthen community health, environmental stewardship, and economic opportunity.

Partnership Spotlight: Building the First Mimic™ Demonstration System

Associated Mothers in Action is proud to partner with California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) and AMiA Food Systems to establish the first Mimic™ Demonstration System, an innovative community-scale resource recovery platform designed to transform plant-based organic waste into a premium vermicompost soil amendment.

This demonstration system will serve as a living laboratory where the technology can be evaluated, refined, and validated through real-world operation and academic research. The project supports environmental sustainability by recovering valuable nutrients from organic waste and returning them to local food production, helping build healthier soils and stronger community food systems.

Associated Mothers in Action is leading the fundraising effort to build and donate the first demonstration system to CSUDH. Through donations, grants, corporate sponsorships, and in-kind support, we are working to establish a permanent demonstration site that will support research, education, and environmental innovation for years to come.

AMiA Food Systems is leading the development and future commercialization of The Mimic™, while CSUDH provides the research environment where the technology will be studied and optimized. Together, this partnership demonstrates how community organizations, universities, and innovative technology can work together to create sustainable solutions for food waste, soil health, and community food access.
